The Role of PPC in your Online Business

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Pay per click is widely used because it is known to play an important role in a business. For businesses and companies, it is wise to familiarize pay per click and its roles so that this strategy can be optimized.

Pay per click advertising and other online advertising strategy can assume three major roles in the online advertising: their role in generating traffic that are campaign and issue-based, their role in generating direct response from online consumers and their role in acquiring the niche terms.

Pay per click’s role in campaign and issue-based traffic is in making a buzz on a new product or a service that the business is offering.

This is true because you can initiate the business’ campaign in a day or two.You will also be given the capability to adjust how the campaign is handled and worded which means that you can easily adjust the message and the focus of the advertising campaign.

In the direct-response business, pay per click also plays a big role in advertising and sale. If you are into an online business and have a website that offers your products for sale, pay per click is a very good strategy to follow.

In an online business, a click generated by a PPC campaign would surely bring in greater chances of sales as the number of potential customers also increases. Thus, pay per click is a good investment. However, it should also be carefully noted that cost also increases as the number of clicks increases.

In determining niche terms, pay per click can also be of great help. PPC advertising helps a lot in leading the right traffic to your site with the help of specific and relevant keywords.

This is most helpful if you cannot compete with the cost of pricey, general keywords but instead can afford to pay for a very specific keyword relevant to your business. Aiming for specific terms can also bring your business to the top ranks of the search engine results page for that certain keyword.

These are some of the more important roles that can be assumed by marketing in the form of pay per click. Make use of this initiative responsibly with a focus on conversions, and not simply on clicks.

Starting a Online Business - Without a Web Site.

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Starting a online business is not as difficult as you my think. With some basic computers skills. Most people can start a business on the web. Contained in this document is a closer look at one of the available options and the steps to take when starting a online business.

The easiest method to make easy money on the internet is to sell products. If not your own, then by selling other people’s products for a commission.

If you are thinking of starting a online business. Chances are you do not have a product of your own. So let’s get you started by selling other people’s products.

The first thing you will want to do is find a product to sell. For this I would recommend that you open an account with Click Bank. This is a good place to start and the service is free. Once your account has been confirmed. Do a bit of reading to get the basics.

You will also need to open an account with Google Adwords. This account you will use to advertise the product and also to do keyword research. More on this later. You will need a credit card to open the account and there may be a nominal setup fee. You cannot really go any further without an Adwords account, so don’t let the cost throw you.

When your Adwords account is set up. Do a bit of reading to get the feel of how the system works. But here are the basics. The Adwords system is keyword driver. You bid for the keywords you want to use for your ad. In other words. Let say someone does a search for widgets. If you have placed your ad and used widgets as one of your keywords. The chances are pretty good that you ad will be seen. However the popularity of the keyword will determine the bid amount to get the ad on page one of Google.

The next step is to find a product. This you will do in the market place in your ClickBank account. For starters, stay in an area in which you have some knowledge and do a search for a product on that subject. Make a list of 5 to 10 products that pay a commission of $20.00 or more.

Now you need to find out if the products have a chance of being viable. To do this we will be using Google Adwords Keyword tool. First thing, go to the keyword tool and enter the exact title of the product you want to sell and ask Google to suggest keywords.

Now have a look at how many searches there are for that product. Remember that the results given by Google are monthly. You want a minimum of 3000 searches per month. Then you look at the competition. The higher the competition the higher the minimum bid amount is to get on page one. Also, have a look at the estimated required bid.

If your product is for example, “How to loose Weight”. Anyone using this search term would most likely want to loose weight. Then the visitor to your ad would be more inclined to buy. On this basis, for every 100 clicks on your ad, one sale should be made. Therefore, if your bid is .10c you need only one sale to break even. Additional sales will be pure profit. Get the picture.?

What I have explained above does not sound as if you will make a lot of money. But do the above with 20 or 30 different products at $300 plus profit per product per month. Not too bad as a pastime.

Now to the next step. On the same basis as above. Select a few keywords that closely match your product and add them to your list. A point to remember. You do not have to have 1000’s of keywords to make the system to work. 5 or 6 well chosen keywords with low bids, is all you need.

Now for the ad. If “How to knit Gloves” for example is the product, then that would be the title. Simple. For the body of the ad, have a look at the competition ads for your keyword. Use the top ones and change them slightly so that your ad is the same but slightly different.

Job done. Run the ad. A word of warning though. In the world of Google Adwords. If you do not carefully monitor your expenses against profits. It could become a very expensive exercise. What you also need to know is which of your keywords are making you money and which are not. If this is done properly. Then starting a internet business could be a very pleasant experience.

Tweaking and Optimizing Your PPC Ads

Friday, June 12th, 2009

In order to maximize the profits of your PPC advertising campaign and keep it in perfect working order, you will need to make adjustments to several areas. Below we will discuss the common areas which need to be focused on when making these tweaks.

First and foremost are keywords. One of the most important parts of your PPC advertising campaign is the keywords you use. As searching trends change, so too will the effectiveness of your keywords. To combat this you can expand the number of keywords you use to broaden your range of potential customers. Likewise you can analyze words which are performing poorly and decide whether you need to put them on hold.

The bidding is also critical to your PPC advertising campaign. This determines the position of your ad. The higher the bid the better the position of your ad will be. If a keyword is bringing in a good flow of sales in a lower position you would be wise to increase the bid and get the ad to a better position. The extra money involved will be offset by the increase in sales. You can also add similar keywords to draw more traffic and sales.

Along these same lines, a poor performing keyword in a high position can be devastating to your campaign. This is basically wasted money. You will want to lower the bid to save some money or possibly even put a truly poor keyword on pause and use another keyword.

Another area of your PPC advertising campaign which will require tremendous attention is your ads. If you leave your ads alone and pay them no attention, eventually they will perform less effectively or possibly fail to perform at all. By simply split testing your ads you will be able to gain an understanding of which ads work at any given time. Then as you repeat the process you will be given the strongest possible ad and maximize your efficiency.

Along these same lines, split testing can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of your landing and sales pages. Once you have people coming to your page, drawn in by your optimized ads and keywords, you need a page that can make the sale. After all, what is the point of your campaign if you are not making money?

Now that you know how to make the most of your PPC advertising campaign, there is just one more thing to keep in mind. When making all of these changes, it is a good idea to keep a log of each and every adjustment which you make. By doing so you will be able quickly see which changes are positively affecting your campaign.

Learning Proper Management of Your Keywords

Friday, June 12th, 2009

You may think that once you have a PPC advertising campaign put together there is nothing left to do but collect the money. This, unfortunately, is not the case. Even after establishing your campaign there is a lot of work to do. Maintaining a successful campaign will require a lot of management of various areas. One such area is your keywords.

Keywords generally fall into two categories: broad and niche.

General keywords are those that attract a large crowd of searchers for a certain topic but not necessarily a niche within that topic. For example a broad based keyword could be “home business.” This will attract a lot of searchers. However they may not be interested in your particular niche and you will get few sales or leads.

Niche keywords on the other hand will attract less people but they will be interested in your particular specialty or niche. This means that you will get a high ratio of sales and leads.

Understanding keywords can lead to greater success in a PPC advertising campaign. One common cause of a failing campaign is poor keyword selection. While you want to draw people to your site, you need to make sure you are drawing people who will buy your product or service. Otherwise you are spending money on pointless clicks.

Make sure to keep a close watch on your keywords. By using software provided by the PPC engine, such as Google Adwords, you can track how much traffic each of you keywords is bringing to your site.

The next thing you will have to look at is your sales conversions for your keywords. Because you are paying for every click that comes in, you want to make sure you are actually selling enough of your product to cover the cost of those clicks.

This sales conversion will be used to measure whether your bidding is appropriate. If you are spending more on clicks than you are making per sale you will want to consider making changes. Otherwise you are losing money, and that is the opposite effect you want your PPC campaign to have.

Keyword trends change. Searchers may look for one set of keywords at one point in time than change to another set later. This factor must be considered and you will need to monitor your keywords and check if they are pulling as well as they used to.

If a keyword is failing to make you money, something needs to be changed. You will need to look at your bid, sales conversions, and traffic generated. As trends change these keywords will continue to need adjusted to keep them successful, or perhaps replace with more successful keywords. This will ensure a suitable ROI.

Getting More From Your Marketing Budget

Friday, June 12th, 2009

When marketing budgets get smaller, most marketing professionals start to panic. Fewer dollars may mean fewer campaigns and less than optimal results. Getting more from your marketing dollars should be on top of everyone’s mind. Even though smaller marketing budgets appear to be the norm, don’t assume that it will negatively impact your marketing results.

Now that things are difficult for online ad networks, magazines, and newspapers, it’s a great time to negotiate rates. Are you still paying top dollar for ads? Due to the difficulty in measuring the impact of a particular advertisement, many companies are cutting back on traditional ad spend. This creates more inventory and with more inventory comes lower prices. It really is all about supply and demand.

Take stock of all of your marketing spend. Whether it’s for online advertising or simply direct mail, get a good understanding of all the costs involved in your project. Perhaps you’ve been sending post cards to your target prospects. Speak with your printer or mail house and see how they might be able to improve their pricing. With direct mail you have numerous options. Don’t be afraid to negotiate the cost of supplies.

Another area that marketers are reviewing more closely is their online budget. Even though Google Adwords and other sites remain competitive in your pricing, now’s a good time to evaluate what aspects of your online spend are most profitable. If you’re not sure, use a free resource like Google analytics to better understand where your money is best spent.

After a thorough review of your marketing expenses, your are in a much better position for determining how you can group promotions to lower costs and improve sell through. Consider how you might take advantage of your current campaigns. Do you ask customers to forward a promotion to a friend? Are you communicating to your mailing list on a regular basis? Are you collecting information about your consumers that can help you customize your campaigns and improve conversion rates? Think through each touch point and how you might improve your sales.

To be effective with a smaller budget, you really need to consider how you can reduce costs while improving the effectiveness of your marketing. Reducing costs can seem a bit frightening at first but assume that you can still improve your results with less marketing. In essence, you are focusing on enhancing the results of your campaigns while purging what hasn’t worked.

Once you have found the campaigns that really produce positive results, consider how you can make them even more effective. Viral and social media, encouraging others to take advantage of your offers, is a great method for generating results and doesn’t cost a lot. When marketers see something that’s working, they often leave it alone. If you have specific campaigns that produce results, focus on expanding the campaigns and scaling them. This ensure that you are creating a sustainable campaign that gives you what you’re looking for in difficult times - greater results with a smaller budget.

Sinful PPC Management

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Are you offending the Google gods by committing any of the hideous sins of ppc management? Most adwords advertisers do not realize it but there are several things the Google gods absolutely hate when it comes to adwords management.

Do you organize your adgroups? This one step can determine success or failure for your Google Adwords campaigns. You have a couple hundred or possibly several thousand keywords, right? Well if you are doing like most Google Adwords advertisers and cramming all of your keywords into the same adgroups then you are making a huge mistake. Did you know that Google expects to see all of your keywords broken up and organized into very closely knit, relevant adgroups? As a matter of fact if you are NOT organizing your keywords in this way then you are blatantly sinning against the Google gods and they will punish you for it!

If your keywords are put into adgroups with keywords that are not relevant to each other then Google is going to charge you more money for your clicks. Why? Since you crammed all of your keywords into the same adgroups you pretty much told Google that your campaign has no relevancy. You see, organizing your adgroups correctly is a huge part of achieving “Relevancy” in ppc management. You should definitely know by now if you know anything about ppc management that relevancy is the key factor in decreasing your overall click costs and the secret to getting high ad placement in Google without having to pay near as much as your competitors .

Here is what you must do to satisfy the Google gods and save your adwords campaigns from their terrible wrath. Immediately take all of your keywords and begin to organize them into separate adgroups with each keyword phrase in an adgroup having a common keyword or theme. If you have an extremely large campaign with tons of keywords, do not worry. There are several keyword organizing tools online that are 100% Free. For instance you can download the free program Adwords Editor and use the “keyword grouper tool” to divide your keywords into relevant adgroups.

If you want to have any success in PPC management it is crucial that you organize your keywords just the way Google expects. The Google gods will definitely NOT reward a campaign that lacks relevancy. If you have not organized your keywords properly you may still have a chance to redeem yourself if you fix them now.

However, if you really want to get on Google’s good side you could organize your keywords like the ppc management professionals. Try putting each keyword into its own adgroup.

Another Way to Promote Your Brand

Friday, June 12th, 2009

A well-known recipe for success is “Find a need and fill it”. In today’s anything-goes business environment, this is better advice than ever. Successful businesses are constantly looking for effective marketing tools. Here’s one that recently emerged — bottled water with custom labeling. Bottled water with customized labeling is now widely available as an advertising and marketing device on many Internet websites; let’s see why this happened. Carbonated water is also available flavored with aromas for sparkling water.

Water which flows to the surface from a subterranean spring is considered natural spring water. Spring water loses none of its natural minerals. Bottled spring water is better for your body’s hydration, which is important for good health. This water lacks the sugar, salt, flavors, impurities and toxins found in most water.

The human body is over 70% water, affecting all of our physical functions. It regulates temperature, and also dissolves and rids your body of various impurities and toxins. No other substance cleans and hydrates your body like pure spring water. It is the most important fluid you can drink.

Numerous illnesses and unhealthy conditions have been linked to forms of mineral accumulation in the body. These range from arthritis to kidney failure. It has been recognized that many of these problems are solved by removing these minerals and then flushing them out of the body.

The result is the biggest new fad– indeed, a whole new industry– all kinds of bottled waters. The first 2 pages of a Google search on bottled water, lists many websites for water from any pure spring in the USA, each claiming to be the purest and best tasting.

This then leads to the newest, the most popular way to get your brand, logo and slogan out before the public. It’s bottled natural spring water– imprinted with your company’s logo or trade mark on custom made labels. This type of marketing has been dubbed private labeling.

it’s a clever and affordable way to get your company name, logo, or message to your customers. Savvy marketers always watch for the newest and most creative idea; with the new health fad of always carrying drinking water with you, custom labeled bottled waters or sparkling waters have become a widespread and pouplar innovation.

The most creative form of branding that I found was private label bottled water for wedding guests. Custom labels can be made for weddings, cocktail parties, engagement parties and outdoor events, all with private labels with the name of the bride and groom, the wedding date, etc. The label can match the napkins and other items that one might order for weddings. It is even possible to make private labels instantly for free at freelabelmaker.

I guess you could even use this way to announce the birth of your first son – private labeled bottled water named after the baby.I am sure if I sit here long enough, I can think of a million more or funnier ways to use private labeled bottled water, but I believe you get the idea already.
