Advertising agencies hire many copywriters and provide them with a professional office. Of course, the downside for the writer is they must dress up and even have face-to-face meetings with clients. These days, copywriters are taking to working as freelance writers from home, and only dressing up to go to the grocery store.
Copywriters must be flexible, not only writing direct response copy for online and offline marketing ventures, but also performing a variety of other writing functions, such as brochures, annual reports, and other marketing communication materials to support a business.
A copywriter must have the ability to combine words into smart combinations that get peoples attention. More importantly, combinations that get people to buy. A copywriter must not only be a good writer, but a salesperson as well.
A good copywriter is able to take even boring or mundane facts and make them exciting to read. Through the use of electrifying speech such as adverbs and adjectives, a great writer can make the words sing. Not content to settle on just the benefits of a product or service, the writer digs deeper and answers the readers most important question: Whats in it for me?
Some people think that a professional copywriter is too expensive. And it is true that you could invest thousands. But it is just that ” an investment vital to the success of your business. If you pay a writer thousands, but your return on investment is ten, twenty, or even fifty times that or more, then using their services is a wise decision indeed.
